Step-by-Step Fix for HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 Not Scanning

1. Use the HP Smart App’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

HP recommends using the HP App to automatically detect and fix scanning issues.


2. Check Scanner Connection

If you're scanning to a computer:

  • Make sure the printer is connected via USB or Wi-Fi
  • Restart both the printer and the computer
  • Try scanning from HP Scan, Windows Fax and Scan, or Preview (on macOS)

3. Update Drivers and Firmware

Outdated software can block scanning functions.


4. Try Scanning from Printer Panel
