I just recently reconnected my OfficeJet 8600 printer.  All status reports come out good.  Everything shows its connected.  All firmware is updated, brand new ink cartridge.  Test pages print just fine.  First couple prints went great, now nothing prints.  No notice of error, jam, or problem other than after 30 seconds or so it says error could not print.

@magnaquam, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP OfficeJet 8600 Not Printing!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet 8600 All-in-One printer is not printing, even though the status reports and test pages are good and there's no error message indicating a problem, you can follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.

Step 1: Reset the Printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

Note: HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet to prevent power issues.

Step 2: Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges

Ensure you’re using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-HP or refilled cartridges can cause print quality and reliability issues. To verify the authenticity of your ink cartridges, you can visit the HP anti-counterfeit webpage.

Step 3: Check and Replace Low or Empty Ink Cartridges

  1. On the printer control panel, touch the Ink Level Indicator icon to view estimated ink levels.
  2. If any cartridges are low or empty, replace them using genuine HP cartridges.
  3. Follow the steps to replace the ink cartridges:
    1. Turn on the printer and open the cartridge access door.
    2. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before proceeding.
    3. Remove the used cartridges and insert new ones into their color-coded slots.
    4. Close the cartridge access door.

Step 4: Clean the Printhead

You may need to clean the printhead if you notice any print quality issues.

  1. Load plain white paper into the tray.
  2. On the printer control panel, swipe to Setup and then touch the Setup icon.
  3. Touch Tools and then Clean Printhead.
  4. Follow the instructions on the printer display to complete the cleaning process.
  5. Print a test page to see if the issue is resolved.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
