Hi, this issue happened a few times in the past and I was able to get it to work until now. The error I am getting is "There is a problem with the printer or ink system". This time when I went for a semi-full reset via the secret menu it gets stuck at this message and will not go through, and I am not able to get the Home button any longer. I am very much in the same situation as the user who posted this: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/officejet-pro-8610-stuck-on-quot-setup-...

Turning off without an ink cartridge etc is not helping. Please let me know if there is a way around. thanks

Thank you for your reply, I can not get any of the buttons to show up, there is only the error message and the button with the question mark - I should have mentioned that earlier

I came across a fix that got things working for a few days. As noted in another forum post, there is often an issue with ink sensors not making proper contact with the circuit board behind the printer cartridge and the solution is to tape foil in between the cartridge holder and the circuit board - 4 thin strips to be exact, one for each ink.

This got the printer back to life and now the error is popping up again, which makes it clearer where the problem is. If anyone knows of a more solid solution than using a strip of foil, or a better approach altogether, then please post and let me and others know. thanks
