My HP printer keeps giving me this message, "A problem has occurred and you will be unable to print until the issue is resolved."  On my HP account, the e-mail and phone number are old and no longer usable therefore I s=cannot sign in to see what the issue is.  How do I change to my new e-mail and phone number?

Hi @Rick9814,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the issue with your HP printer and update your email and phone number on your HP account, follow these steps.

Update Email and Phone Number on Your HP Account:

Go to the HP Account Sign-In Page:

Forgot Your Email/Phone?

  • If you no longer have access to your old email or phone number, select the "Forgot Email?" or "Forgot Password?" link.
  • Follow the prompts to recover your account using any backup options, such as security questions or alternate email.

Resolve the Printer Error:

While working on the account access issue, you can try troubleshooting the printer issue by performing these steps.

  • Restart the Printer: Turn the printer off, unplug it for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and power it on.
  • Check HP Smart App: If you’re using the HP Smart app, it might provide more details on the error.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if your printer has a pending firmware update that could resolve the issue.
  • Perform a Factory Reset: If necessary, you may need to reset your printer to factory settings to clear persistent errors. Refer to your printer manual for instructions.

Once your email and phone number are updated, you can sign in to your HP account and check for any specific issues related to your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
