The on/off button constantly blinking. No info comes up about what's wrong.  There is no paper jam. Online advice said it might be low ink and I know black ink was low.  Went to change ink cartridge and when I opened the door to refill the cartridges do not move.

Hi @Sherry917,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer’s power button is constantly blinking, no error message shows, and when you open the cartridge door the print carriage does not move. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Power Reset the Printer

Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from both the printer and wall outlet.

Wait at least 60 seconds, then reconnect and power on.

This clears temporary system faults.

Check Cartridge Access Door Sensor

If the printer doesn’t detect the door opening, the carriage won’t move.

Open and close the door firmly to ensure the sensor is engaged.

Inspect for Obstructions

Even if no paper jam is visible, check inside the carriage path for scraps of paper or debris.

Any obstruction can prevent the carriage from moving.

Verify Power Source

Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector.

Inconsistent power can cause blinking lights and stalled carriage movement.

Try a Hard Reset

With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord.

Hold down the power button for 15 seconds, then reconnect the cord and restart.

This forces the printer to reinitialize.

Check Ink Cartridge Installation

If the carriage eventually moves, remove and reseat both cartridges.

Make sure protective tape is fully removed and contacts are clean.

I hope this helps.
