It depends on which Preferences you have selected.
For example,
If you set Printing Preferences to a shortcut that includes the "automatic" source selection, and if you leave that setup to be used on the current print job, then - if it can do so - the tray will be selected automatically.
If you set Printing Preferences to a shortcut that includes a source (tray) selection in that shortcut definition, and if you do not readjust (or change) that "preferred" shortcut setup when you submit the job, then the tray will be set according to the shortcut.
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers
Right-Click on your default printer > Printing Preferences

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to set the Tray and Paper Management settings
Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper Management
Click Apply to save changes
