HP Deskjet Plus 4152

I recently replaced the black ink.  It printed the test page, but nothing else.

@Sarah512, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer that shows orange light!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you're experiencing an orange light by the ink levels and printing issues even after replacing the black ink on your HP DeskJet Plus 4152, here are the steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

Ensure Proper Installation of Ink Cartridges

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Open the ink cartridge access door by placing your fingers in the slots on the right and left sides of the printer and then lifting to open the door. The carriage will move into the access area.
  3. Check the seating of the ink cartridge:
    • Press the tab inward on the front of the ink cartridge to release it, and then pull up to remove it.
    • Reinsert the ink cartridge firmly into its slot until it clicks into place.
  4. Close the ink cartridge access door.

Run a Printhead Cleaning Utility

  1. Load plain white U.S. letter or A4 paper in the input tray.
  2. On the printer control panel, press the Setup icon.
  3. Navigate to 'Tools', and then select Clean Printhead.
  4. Evaluate the test page for print quality:
    • If the print quality on the test page is satisfactory, you can continue printing.
    • If unsatisfactory, repeat the cleaning process as necessary.

Print and Evaluate Diagnostic Report

  1. Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Report by navigating to the Reports menu from the Setup screen on the control panel and selecting Print Quality Report.
  2. Check the report for defects.
    • If there are defects, follow the suggested steps to resolve the specific issues noted on the report.

Ensure Proper Venting and Sealing of Cartridges

  1. Properly vent the ink cartridges by ensuring the small vent area on top of the cartridge is not clogged. Use a pin to clear any blockages if necessary.
  2. Firmly reinsert the ink cartridge into its slot and ensure it snaps into place correctly.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
