Hi @ann319,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it feels when your printer starts flashing right after you’ve installed fresh cartridges, especially when you’re expecting smooth printing. Let’s get this sorted together.

The flashing lights usually indicate an issue with cartridge installation or recognition. Here are the steps to resolve this:

Step 1: Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Make sure the cartridges you installed are genuine HP cartridges and compatible with your printer model.
  • You can verify compatibility on HP’s Cartridge Compatibility Page.

Step 2: Reseat the Cartridges

  • Power ON the printer.
  • Open the cartridge access door and wait until the carriage stops moving.
  • Remove the cartridges gently and wipe the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly until they click into place.

Step 3: Reset the Printer

  • With the printer ON, disconnect the power cord from the rear.
  • Unplug it from the wall outlet and wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn the printer ON.

Step 4: Check for Error Codes

  • If the flashing continues, note any error code or message on the printer display.
  • Visit HP Printer Error Codes and Solutions for detailed guidance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
