@Husbandlove, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding E3 Error on HP Deskjet Printers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If the color cartridge light and paper feed light are flashing on your HP Deskjet 270 series printer, it indicates an E3 error typically related to cartridge or paper feed issues. Here are steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

Check for Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
  • Wait until the ink carriage stops moving.
  • Check the cartridge labels and compare them with the compatible cartridge numbers for your printer model to ensure they are compatible.

Reposition Cartridge:

  • Turn the printer on and make sure the input tray is down.
  • Open the cartridge door. The carriage should move to the center of the printer.
  • Raise the carriage latch and lift the cartridges out of the carriage slots.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly into the slots and secure the carriage latch.
  • Close the cartridge door.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer for about 60 seconds, then reconnect it.
  • Turn on the printer and check if the issue persists.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Open the cartridge access door and wait until the carriage moves to the center.
  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord.
  • Remove the cartridges and place them on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up.
  • Lightly moisten a cotton swab with distilled water and clean the contacts on the cartridges and inside the carriage.
  • Allow them to dry for at least 10 minutes.
  • Reinsert the cartridges into the printer and close the access door.
  • Connect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
