Hi @Magpie1944,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8022 All-in-One Printer is displaying a paper jam error even when there is no jam, you can try the following troubleshooting steps.

Check for Paper Jam:

  • Open the printer cover and remove any paper, including small bits that might be stuck.
  • Inspect the paper path and output tray for any obstructions.
  • Check the input tray and remove all paper, then reinsert it properly.

Clear Sensors:

  • Dust or debris might be blocking the paper sensors. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the sensors, which are usually located near the input and output areas.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure the paper size settings in the printer settings match the paper you are using. Mismatched settings can sometimes trigger false jam errors.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can help identify and fix issues with your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
