Hi @lamaho,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I’m sorry to hear that your HP OfficeJet 250 printer won't stop running and it's impossible to shut it down. That can definitely be frustrating! Let's try to troubleshoot this issue and get it working properly again.

  • Does the printer continue to make noise or try to print, or is it just stuck in a "powered on" state with no activity?
  • Have you recently experienced any paper jams or power outages that might have affected the printer?
  • Is the printer connected wirelessly or via USB, and does the issue happen on both connections, or only one of them?

Let's try these steps.

Force a Hard Reset:

  • Press and hold the Power button on the printer for about 10-15 seconds to force it to turn off. If that doesn't work, try unplugging the printer directly from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.

Check for Print Jobs Stuck in the Queue:

  • If there are any stuck print jobs, the printer may keep running. Go to Devices and Printers on your PC, find your HP OfficeJet 250, and open the print queue to cancel any pending print jobs.

Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions:

  • Open the printer's cartridge access area and paper trays to check for any paper jams or obstructions that might be causing the printer to continue its operation.
  • Ensure the printer is free of any stuck paper or debris.

Reset the Printer's Settings:

  • If the printer has a reset option in its settings (via the printer's touchscreen or the HP Smart app), perform a reset to restore it to factory settings. This can often resolve persistent glitches.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP OfficeJet 250 by visiting the HP Support page. Installing the latest firmware can often fix unexpected behavior like this.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
