Hi @kar1936,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Inkjet 8715 printer is indicating that the print head is missing, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check the Print Head: Open the printer cover and ensure that the print head is properly installed. It should be securely seated in its carriage.
  • Clean the Print Head Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the print head or in the printer can become dirty, leading to connectivity issues. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to gently clean the contacts.
  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. HP often releases firmware updates to address bugs and improve performance.
  • Reset the Printer: If the issue persists, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
