Hi @leroy240,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the error message "printhead not detected or missing" on your HP ENVY 6010 All-in-One Printer typically indicates an issue with the printhead or its connection to the printer.

Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Step 1: Check the Printhead Installation

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Open the printer to access the printhead.
  3. Check the printhead to ensure it is installed correctly. If it is loose, carefully push it into place until it clicks.
  4. Close the printer and plug the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the printer and see if the error persists.

Step 2: Clean the Printhead Contacts

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Open the printer to access the printhead.
  3. Remove the printhead carefully.
  4. Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. Be gentle to avoid damaging the contacts.
  5. Reinstall the printhead, ensuring it is securely in place.
  6. Close the printer and plug the power cord back in.
  7. Turn on the printer and check if the issue is resolved.

Step 3: Check the Cartridges

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Open the printer to access the ink cartridges.
  3. Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges to ensure they are properly seated.
  4. Close the printer and plug the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the printer and see if the error is resolved.

Step 4: Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for about 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer and check if the error message is gone.

Step 5: Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  1. Check for firmware updates on the HP support website for your printer model.
  2. Download and install any available updates according to the instructions provided. Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 6010 All-in-One Printer

Step 6: Replace the Printhead

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, the printhead might be faulty and require replacement.

I hope this helps.
