We have three macs that have never had issues with our HP Laserjet pro MFP M177fw. Now all of them are getting the statement; "Print file was not accepted".

Indicates, "Job pending on server"

This is the same with all of our printers even after we turn off and restart and recheck all the settings. For the test tprint, the printer has no problems.

We are in dire need of having this work today. I run my business and have to have access to this printer!

Please advise as soon as possible.

Thank you,

Heather

I have thge same printer and seem to have found the fix.

I deleted the printer in the settings, then re-installed it. When you re-install it you can choose the driver, I had the option of Airprint or the HP Driver, I selected the HP driver and the printer works. `Unfortunately I didn't screen grab the procedure, but of you go through the motion you should see the drop down menu I am referring to.

I will say however that it seem my Mac has a mind of it's own and it seems to revert to Airprint when it feels like it. Anyway I have fixed it for now.

Hope it helps.

Like some others, we have multiple Macs and have had the MFP M277dw printer for over a year, with on and off success.   It is a very nice printer when our macs can talk to it, which has been most of the time.  Today I got the "print job was not accepted message" and after checking for firmware updates (it was current) it turned out the printer had been "Paused" for some reason,  so the very easy fix was to hit Resume.  I'm not sure that was the original problem, but that's what restarted it.  As others have noted, deleting the printer from the Mac and re-adding it often helps.  The HP site usually seems to recommend downloading and re-installing the easy-works software, which usually leaves us with the same version of the software we already had and a lot of software we don't use.   Apple will tell you they keep the HP drivers current for you, and you just need to use Bonjour and Airprint.  I also noticed on another forum that some have reported problems with HP's implementation of IPv6 support, and have seen the suggestion to disable IPv6 on the printer and run IPv4 only.  I did that a month ago and it seemed to help.

In case someone else comes across this thread, I wanted to chime in on how I solved this problem on my Xerox WorkCentre (Google has this thread as the top for "'Print job was not accepted' Mac"

My issue was I used IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) isntead of LPD.  When I made a new printer with LPD, it worked immediately.
