Hi @MarkoPE,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error code 0X6100004a on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 printer typically indicates an internal hardware problem, often related to a perceived paper jam or mechanical failure. Here's how you can troubleshoot this issue.

Check for Paper Jam

  • Inspect Paper Path: Open all printer access areas (input tray, output tray, and rear door) to check for and remove any stuck paper.
  • Examine Roller Areas: Check for small pieces of paper, torn scraps, or debris that may block the rollers.
  • Turn the Printer Upside Down: Gently shake it to dislodge any hidden pieces of paper.

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power cord and any other cables.
  3. Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet (avoid power strips or surge protectors).
  5. Turn the printer back on.

Inspect the Print Carriage

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Verify that the print carriage moves freely. If it’s stuck, gently move it to the center to check for obstructions.
  • Remove and reseat the ink cartridges to ensure they are properly installed.

Clean the Rollers

  • Turn the printer off and disconnect it from power.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the paper rollers inside the printer.
  • Dry the rollers with a dry, lint-free cloth.

Perform a Firmware Update

Sometimes, firmware issues can cause error codes.

  1. Go to the HP Software and Drivers.
  2. Enter your printer model (OfficeJet Pro 6968) and download the latest firmware update.
  3. Follow on-screen instructions to install the update.
