Hi @0xc19a0042
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error 0xc19a0042 is a common issue with HP printers, particularly when there's a problem with the printer cartridges or the cartridge contacts. This error usually occurs when the printer detects an issue with the ink cartridges or the printer’s internal system can't properly communicate with them.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and fix the issue:
1. Check and Clean the Cartridges and Contacts Again
Even though you’ve already cleaned the cartridges, it’s worth cleaning the cartridge contacts and the printer’s electrical contacts once more to ensure there’s no debris or ink buildup that might be causing the error.
To clean the printer’s contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the printer cover to expose the ink cartridges.
- Remove the cartridges from their slots.
- Use a clean, lint-free cloth or paper towel to gently clean the electrical contacts inside the printer (where the cartridge connects) and the contacts on the cartridges themselves.
- Allow the printer and cartridges to dry for a few minutes, then reinstall the cartridges properly.
- Close the printer cover, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.
2. Reset the Printer
A simple reset can help clear error messages and reset the printer’s internal systems. Here's how to do a reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes to let the printer fully reset.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Try printing a test page to see if the error persists.
I hope this helps.
