Hi @clairewinford,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One printer is showing an error on Windows 11. Let’s go through some steps to identify and fix it.
1. Check Printer Status
Make sure the printer is powered on and connected via USB or Wi-Fi.
Check the printer’s control panel for any error messages or blinking lights.
2. Restart Printer & Computer
Turn off the printer, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
Restart your Windows 11 PC.
Sometimes, a simple restart clears temporary communication errors.
3. Clear Print Queue
Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
Select your HP OfficeJet 4650 > Open queue.
Cancel all pending print jobs and try printing a test page.
4. Run Windows Printer Troubleshooter
Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
Run Printer Troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Update/Reinstall Printer Driver
Visit the HP Support website and download the latest driver for Windows 11.
Install the driver, restart the PC, and reconnect the printer.
6. Check Ink Cartridges & Paper
Ensure all cartridges are installed correctly and have ink.
Check for paper jams or misaligned paper in the tray.
7. Reset the Printer (Optional)
If the error persists, perform a factory reset from the printer’s control panel:
Menu > Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
Reconnect to your network and PC after the reset.
I hope this helps.
