@Jolene78, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding "Printer in Error" Message on HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It seems you're experiencing a "Printer in Error" message when attempting to print from your laptop, while printing from your phone works correctly. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Check Printer Status: Ensure that the printer is turned on and is displaying the status as ready on the control panel.
Reboot Both Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication issues. Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on. Do the same with your laptop.
WiFi Connectivity: Confirm that both your laptop and printer are connected to the correct WiFi network. You can check the network settings on your printer's control panel.
Update Printer Drivers: Make sure your laptop has the latest drivers for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e. You can download and install these from the HP support website.
Reinstall Printer: On your laptop, uninstall the printer from the printer settings and add it again. This can help resolve any configuration issues.
Clear Print Queue: Ensure there are no stuck jobs in your laptop's print queue. Clear any pending jobs.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: This is a tool provided by HP for diagnosing and resolving printing and scanning problems. You can download it from the HP support website.
Check for Errors on Printer Control Panel: Make sure there are no specific error messages displayed on the printer itself, which might give more insight into the problem.
Firewall Settings: In some cases, antivirus or firewall settings can block printer communication from your laptop. Temporarily disable these to see if it resolves the issue.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
