Hi @si41
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your printer is locked out, it typically means that there are restrictions or a password set on the printer, preventing you from accessing certain functions or settings. Here’s how you can try to regain access:
1. Restart the Printer
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve lockout issues. Turn the printer off, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
2. Check the Display for Messages
- Look at the printer’s control panel for any messages that may indicate why it is locked out. It might provide instructions or a specific error code.
3. Reset the Printer
- Factory Reset: If you can access the printer’s menu:
- Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults. This will reset the printer to its original settings but may require you to reconfigure your network and settings.
4. Use the Default Password
- If you are prompted for a password, try using the default passwords. Common defaults are:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin, 1234, or leave it blank.
5. Access Embedded Web Server (EWS)
- If your printer is connected to a network, try accessing the Embedded Web Server:
- Find the printer's IP address (usually available on the printer's display under network settings).
- Enter the IP address into a web browser.
- If prompted for a username and password, try the defaults mentioned above.
6. Firmware Update
- Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve lockout issues. Check the HP support website for instructions on updating your printer’s firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
