Printer stuck at verifying error

This type of issue usually occurs due to problems with the printer's connection, firmware, or settings. Here are some detailed troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

 

1. Power Cycle the Printer

A simple power cycle can often help resolve temporary errors or connection issues.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cable.
  • Wait for 60 seconds to allow any residual power to drain.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

After performing this step, check if the printer is still stuck at the "verifying" error.

 

2. Check Your Internet Connection

Since this printer uses Wi-Fi for cloud services and remote printing, an unstable or slow connection can cause verification errors.

  • Restart your Wi-Fi router to ensure the connection is stable.
  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the network. You can check the network status from the printer's control panel:

4. Reset Network Settings

  • After this reset, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

 

5. Reconfigure HP Smart App (if using)

If you're trying to set up the printer via the HP Smart App and it’s stuck during verification, it might be helpful to remove the printer from the app and re-add it.

  • Open the HP Smart App on your computer or mobile device.
  • Remove the printer by clicking on the printer image, selecting Settings, and then Remove Printer.
  • Restart the app and then re-add the printer using the Add Printer button.

 

6. Reset Printer to Factory Defaults

If the issue persists, you may need to reset the printer to its factory settings. Keep in mind this will erase all settings, so you will need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network and reconfigure it.
