HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw

Hi, my printer (mfp 179fnw) is stuck on system initialization, and I have seen the exact same problem solved a bunch of times on this forum and the solution is sent by private message. Thanks for any help! Have a nice day!

Hi @HannaH2024,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A printer stuck on "System Initialization" often indicates firmware issues or an error with the printer's internal memory or components. Here are a few troubleshooting steps that might help.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and power it on.

Reset to Factory Defaults:

  • If your printer has a control panel, navigate to Settings > System Setup > Clear Setting/Reset > Factory Default. This can sometimes resolve initialization issues.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there’s a firmware update available for your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw. You can download it from the HP support website and follow the instructions to install it.

Check for Paper Jams or Hardware Blockage:

  • Sometimes, even a minor obstruction within the printer can cause initialization errors. Open all access doors and inspect for any bits of paper or other foreign objects.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
