Hi @mimidanger,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

The blinking of the bottom left paper light on your HP ENVY Pro 6458 All-in-One Printer in multiple colors typically indicates a paper-related issue. Here's what it may mean and how you can troubleshoot it:

1. Paper Jam or Misfeed

  • What it means: The printer might be detecting a paper jam or an improperly loaded sheet.
  • Solution: Open the printer and check for any paper jams. Remove any stuck paper, and ensure that the paper is properly loaded in the tray, with the guides snugly fitting the paper stack.

2. Out of Paper

  • What it means: The printer might be out of paper.
  • Solution: Load paper into the input tray, ensuring that the paper is properly aligned and not curled or wrinkled. Adjust the paper width guides to fit the paper without bending it.

3. Paper Size or Type Mismatch

  • What it means: The printer might detect a paper size or type that doesn't match the settings in the print job.
  • Solution: Double-check the print settings on your computer. Make sure the selected paper size and type match the paper loaded in the tray. Adjust the settings in the Printer Properties or from the print job setup.

4. Printer Firmware or Hardware Error

  • What it means: The blinking colors might also signal a firmware issue or hardware error.
  • Solution: Restart the printer. Unplug it from the power source for at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. If the issue persists, check for any available firmware updates for your printer.

5. Paper Sensor Malfunction

  • What it means: There could be a problem with the paper sensor, causing it to detect paper issues incorrectly.
  • Solution: Clean the paper feed rollers and sensor areas to remove any debris that may be affecting the sensor. Refer to the printer’s manual for guidance on accessing and cleaning these parts.
