I have an OfficeJet Pro 8610 printer that keeps giving me a "printer or ink system failure" alert and I can't make it go away. It's a printer at a new job I started, everyone told me it hasn't been used in a while and did have the inks taken out except for one. I had contacted support from our company to see it they could help remotely, but they said it might be something with the actual printer.
There is no paper or debris in the way of the ink belt.

Try these steps:
Check the Ink Cartridges

Clean the Ink Cartridges and Contacts
- Turn off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.
- Remove Cartridges: Open the access door and remove all ink cartridges.
- Clean the Encounters: Use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to gently clean the cartridge contacts and the corresponding printer contacts.
- Let It Dry: Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
- Reinsert Cartridges: Place the cleaned cartridges back into the printer.
Reset the Printer
- Disconnect the Power: Unplug the printer's power cord from the outlet.
- Wait: Allow 30 seconds to pass.
- Reconnect Power: Plug the power cord back into the outlet and turn the printer on.
Update Printer Firmware
- Visit HP Support: Go to the HP support website.
- Search for Your Model: Look for any firmware updates available for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610.
- Download and Install: Follow the instructions to download and install firmware updates.
Perform a Printhead Cleaning
- Access Printer Menu: On the printer's control panel, access the tools or settings menu.
- Run Printhead Cleaning: Look for maintenance options and select "Clean Printhead."
