Hi @SueP11

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the issue—it’s genuinely frustrating when your printer suddenly stops responding across all devices.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore printing functionality and clear that “problem with printer or print system” error.

Step 1: Power Reset the Printer

This clears internal memory and resets the print system.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug it back in and turn the printer on.

Step 2: Run Diagnose & Fix from the HP App

This tool checks for print system errors and repairs them automatically.

  1. Open the HP App on your computer.
  2. Go to Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If you don’t have the HP App installed, download it here:

Step 3: Reinstall the Printer

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your printer and click Remove.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Re-add the printer using Add device.

Step 4: Reset the Print Spooler (Windows)

This clears stuck jobs and refreshes the print service.

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click, and choose Stop.
  3. Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files.
  4. Return to Services, right-click Print Spooler, and choose Start.

Step 5: Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause system-level errors.

Let me know your printer model and how it’s connected (USB, Wi-Fi, Ethernet)—I’ll tailor the next steps to your setup.
