HP DeskJet 2810e All-in-One Printer

The printer will only print one sheet of any document. Then the resume button flashes and I have to press it and it will print the next sheet. To print several pages I have to print one sheet at a time!  I have uninstalled and reinstalled HP Smart (twice). I have performed a power drain of the printer, twice (cartridges out, unplug power cord on printer and wall, hold power button 15 seconds wait 30 seconds, power cord back, insert cartridges). Updated firmware. I have used a different computer (same result). Any ideas???

@woodside7, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  4. Wait for 60 seconds and connect the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the printer.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Check Print Settings

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Right-click your printer → Printing Preferences.

Make sure it's set to:

Paper source: Auto or Main tray.

Paper type: Plain Paper.

Print on both sides (duplex): Off.

Clean the Paper Rollers

Turn off printer.

Remove paper.

Use a slightly damp cloth to clean the rubber rollers inside the paper tray.

Let dry. Reinsert paper and try again.

Try Printing Without HP Smart

Use a USB cable.

Print a file (like a PDF or Word doc) from your computer directly — not through HP Smart.

Let me know how it goes.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Than you for you reply. I have carried out all the processes you have suggested:

1. I restarted the printer

2.I ran HP printer and scan doctor

3. I checked the print settings

4.I cleaned the paper rollers.

5. I uninstalled HP Smart and used a USB lead.

I have used a lot of paper testing the printer after each step and it still prints only one sheet and then the resume button flashes. I  press this and the next sheet will print. None of the suggestions have made any difference.

Am I right in thinking that this printer is defective and not fit for purpose?
