Hello @OLDSCAN, and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

The error code B877AF0E combined with the message "Paper tray not inserted correctly" typically points to a mechanical or sensor issue with the paper tray alignment or detection system. Here's how you can troubleshoot and potentially resolve it:

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall and printer.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.

This helps clear temporary firmware glitches.

Inspect and Reinsert the Paper Tray

  • Remove the paper tray completely.
  • Check for any broken plastic tabs, dust, or foreign objects that may prevent proper seating.
  • Reinsert the tray firmly until it clicks into place.
  • Ensure the paper guides are not too tight or misaligned.

Clean the Paper Pick Rollers

Dust or debris on rollers can cause feed errors. Follow HP’s guide to clean rollers: HP Printers - An 'Out of Paper' error displays, printer does not pick paper | HP® Support

Check for Firmware Updates

Outdated firmware can cause unexpected errors. Update your printer firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support

Reset the Printer

If the issue persists:

  • Remove any rechargeable battery (if applicable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
  • Reconnect power and turn on the printer.

If the error B877AF0E continues after these steps, it may indicate a hardware fault with the tray sensor or internal components, in that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
