@AM540, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The E error and three red lights on your HP Smart Tank 450 indicate a serious hardware or ink system issue. Try these troubleshooting steps:

Check for Paper Jams

>Open the printer’s front and back covers.

>Remove any stuck paper inside.

>Close all covers properly.

Inspect Ink Levels & Cartridges

>Open the ink access area and check the ink tanks.

>If the ink levels are low, refill them.

>Make sure the ink cartridges are seated properly.

Reset the Printer

>Turn off the printer.

>Unplug the power cable and wait 2-3 minutes.

>Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check the Printhead

>Open the printhead access door.

>Make sure the printheads are installed correctly.

>If the error persists, try cleaning or reseating the printheads.

Factory Reset (if needed)

>Press and hold the Cancel (X) and Wi-Fi buttons for 5+ seconds until the printer resets.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
