@wendletoons, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer that throws an error message!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your printer has stopped working after Windows updates or you are encountering error messages, here are steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Restart Your Computer: Shut down and restart your computer to refresh memory addresses and potentially clear minor issues.

Update Printer Drivers:

Run Windows Update:

  • Ensure your Windows 10 is up to date by checking for updates.
  • Go to Windows Settings > Update & Security > Check for updates.
  • Install any available updates and restart your computer.

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure your printer is properly connected to your computer either via USB or network and that all cables are secure.

Adjust Printer Settings:

  • Access printer settings via Control Panel > Devices and Printers, and verify that your printer is set as the default printer.
  • Check for any pending print jobs in the printer queue and cancel them if necessary.

Perform a Windows System Reset:

  • If issues persist, you might consider resetting your Windows system. Microsoft provides a reset feature that reinstalls the operating system and can resolve deeper issues. Ensure to back up any important files before proceeding.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
