Hi @alizon15,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 100 mobile printer won't stay on and shows a flashing red battery symbol, it typically indicates a battery issue. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps

Check the Power Connection:

  • Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to the printer and plugged into a working outlet. Try using a different outlet to rule out issues with the power source.

Remove and Reinsert the Battery:

  • If your printer has a removable battery, take it out and inspect it for any signs of damage. Reinsert it firmly and ensure it is properly seated.

Charge the Battery:

  • Leave the printer connected to the power supply for at least 4-6 hours. Sometimes, if the battery has been completely discharged, it may take some time to charge enough to power on.

Reset the Printer:

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if applicable). Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power. Then, reconnect the battery and power supply.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • If you can get the printer to turn on temporarily, check for firmware updates through the HP website or the HP Smart app.

Test Without Battery:

  • If possible, try running the printer solely on the power adapter without the battery installed. This can help determine if the battery is the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Remove the battery and try to power on the unit. You can use this unit without the battery installed. If it still will not power up then you may have a power supply issue. If it powers without the battery installed then likely the battery has failed and would need to be replaced if you are going to use the printer as a portable.
