Hi @Leslie823,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY Photo 6255 printer says the door is open but it’s not, try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Check the Paper Tray: Make sure the paper tray is securely closed. Sometimes the paper tray can appear closed but isn’t fully seated.
  • Examine the Cartridge Door: Open and then firmly close the cartridge door, ensuring it's completely latched.
  • Inspect the Printer Internals: Look inside the printer for any obstructions or items that might be preventing the door from closing properly.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if there are no visible paper jams, try carefully removing any paper and reinserting it to ensure there are no blockages.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver: Sometimes, software glitches can cause false error messages. Ensure you have the latest printer driver from the HP website. Uninstall and reinstall the driver if needed.
  • Perform a Printer Reset: Consult the printer’s user manual for instructions on performing a hard reset or factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
