I have an HP officejet Pro 6230 ePrinter. I keep getting "paper jam" error when I try to print. There is no paper stuck. rollers and sensor is clean of debri. I am unable to reset the printer to factory settings; Can't find that option if there is one. I did not make a backup when I first setup the printer so I have no restore point. paper jam error occurs on LAN and wireless attempts. I can not seem to find anything helpful on HP or websearch, does anyone have solutions worth trying?

Hi @dan4242,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Check Paper Path Thoroughly:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open all doors and remove all paper trays.
  • Check the entire paper path, including the rear access, for any tiny pieces of paper or debris.

2. Reset the Printer: Resetting the printer can sometimes clear errors.

  • While the printer is on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on.

3. Use the Embedded Web Server: Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to check for issues.

  1. Ensure the printer is connected to the network.
  2. Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address (found on the printer control panel) into the address bar.
  3. Navigate to the diagnostics or support section to see if any paper jam errors are logged or solutions provided.

4. Perform a Power Cycle: Conduct a full restart.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait for a few minutes.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

5. Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the paper size and type settings match the paper loaded.

  1. On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the settings or setup menu.
  2. Verify paper size and type settings.

6. Factory Reset (if applicable): Refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

7. Update Firmware: Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

8. Inspect and Adjust Rollers: Check if the rollers are properly aligned.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Open the paper path and inspect the rollers.
  3. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth and a mild soap solution.
  4. Ensure they can move freely.

I hope this helps.
