officejet pro 6830
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My husband bought a 6830 printer in Turkey in 2016. At that time HP already knew that the printerhead was not good. Now 1,4 years later our printerhead did indeed brake down. Because the warrenty is no longer valid the only thing the could offer me was 20% discount on a new one if we replace it in 60 days. The printer is almost new because he didn't use it much. Now we have to spent more money to buy a new one if we want a new one and that in 60 days. My qeustion is is this normal. They knew that this probebly would happen. It's on the website but in 2016 the warrenty for this problem was set back to 1 year. (And that's when we bought it). A printer is a product that will work for more than 1,4 years i think.

I hope there is someone who has an other solution.

(I also think its a shame for nature to throw a completely new printer in the garbish)

Sorry for my English I am Dutch.

The response was very quick. Someone called me in Dutch.. He offered me a refurbished printer and that came the next day. UPS took the "old one" with him so I am very pleased. Thank you mister Hamdan. Good job.

Wow they were much nicer than they were to me! My printhead died last week and my warranty is up and they kept trying to sell me an updated one! Bunch of crooks! I just want a replacement

I have the exact same problem. My printer is less than 2 years old and the printhead does not work. I called customer services after raising a case number but they said I'm no longer under the warranty so they can't do anything. This is completely unfair. The printer shouldn't break down within 2 years.

I purchased 2 HP OfficeJet Pro 6830's back in Dec 2015, these printers are home use only. I got one for my parents and for myself.  Both of them were replaced due to bad printheads in Feb 2017.  I had called tech support and informed them of my issue I am having with one of my printers.  Simply put, ink is dripping below the printhead and pooling underneath.  I did not notice this at first and noticed that some of my printed pages have streaks in them.  So I decided to run the diagnostics to clean the printhead and align it again.  I got a warning that the ink cartirdges were low after running it the 3rd time as the images were still having streaks.  So I went out bought new cartridges and decided to run the diagnostic once again, and again, and again.  Still having streaks.  I opened the lid and noticed something glossy under the printhead, a pool of ink. Great.......I put in 2 Case numbers 5005128193 &  5004548216, both of which have not been addressed.  I saw the tech support number and spoke with the technician for over half an hour, to him stating that my printer is having a hardware failure (printhead failure) and that there is nothing they could do since it is out of warrenty.  He did offer me an HP Envy (some model) for $199 and 3 free additional months of the HP ink service.  Truthfully this is a bad support model as I work IT.  I see all the forums have mixed responses and pretty much all of them have had the warrenty extended to 2 years.  I like the printer, but I cannot go every year and purchase a new printer due to parts failing.

Having the exact same problem with the printhead as every else printer was bought in late 2015

Me also.  I think this is CRAZY.  I have had other HP printers that have outlasted this one.  Infact, I currently have one at home that is older than this and working fine.

I have had the same issue with my 6830, hardly put two reams of paper through it and all of a sudden getting the printhead error message.  Apparently very common for this printer, started a case number and the whole nine yards.  Called the customer service number and was told that the best they could do is offer me a comparable printer at a reduced cost!  Not a very good option when HP knew there was a hardware issue with this printer.  I have used HP products for years but am very disappointed in this product.
