Hi @MGTD53 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the error code OXC19a0036 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer usually indicates a printhead failure or an issue related to the ink system. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot this problem:

Steps to Resolve:

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer to see if the error clears.

Check the Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the printer's ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove all the ink cartridges from the printer.
  • Check for any protective tape on the cartridges and remove it if present (avoid touching the copper contacts).
  • Clean the cartridge contacts with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the cartridges and close the access door.

Clean the Printhead:

  • If possible, use the printer’s maintenance settings to run a printhead cleaning cycle.
  • You can access this via the printer's control panel under Tools or Settings > Printhead Cleaning.

Reset the Printer:

  • If cleaning does not work, perform a hard reset:
    • Disconnect the power cord while the printer is on.
    • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Make sure the printer firmware is up to date. You can do this by checking for updates via the HP Smart app or visiting the HP website for the latest firmware.

Replace the Printhead (If Necessary):

  • If the error persists, the printhead might need to be replaced. You can contact HP Support to check if your printer is under warranty and request a replacement printhead.
