Hi @Lusk01,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed" error on the HP Officejet Pro 8630 e-All-in-One Printer can occur even with a new printhead and cartridges due to other underlying issues. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve this.

Check the Printhead Installation

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the printer's access door and carefully remove the printhead.
  • Inspect the connectors on both the printhead and the printer for any debris, ink buildup, or damage.
  • Reinstall the printhead securely, ensuring it clicks into place.
  • Reinstall the ink cartridges and close the printer access door.

Clean the Printhead Contacts

  • Gently clean the gold contacts on the printhead and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the printhead.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Outdated firmware can cause communication issues. Check for updates by connecting the printer to your network and using the control panel or HP Smart app to install the latest firmware.

Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the printer while it is powered on.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can reset the internal hardware and clear error messages.

Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure the ink cartridges are genuine HP cartridges and are compatible with the HP Officejet Pro 8630.
  • Remove and reinstall the cartridges to ensure they are properly seated.

Inspect for Printer Errors

  • Look for additional error messages or blinking lights on the control panel, which may provide more clues.
  • Perform a diagnostic self-test if the printer allows.

Perform a Semi-Full Reset

  • To perform a semi-full reset:
    1. Disconnect the power cord from the printer.
    2. Hold the "Cancel" and "OK" buttons simultaneously while reconnecting the power cord.
    3. Continue holding the buttons until the printer turns on and displays a reset message.
    4. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
