HP envy 5530

My printer looked like it was running out of ink, so I changed the cartridge. Then it started printing every other line. This was from my MacBook. I tried to copy a page and the same thing happened.

@belbook, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Are you trying to print in black or color?

You may insert one ink cartridge at a time to identify the defective ink cartridge.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Check estimated ink levels and replace any low/empty ink cartridges.

Use an automated tool to clean the printhead

  1. On the printer control panel, touch the Settings icon ().

  2. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Printhead. The printer cleans the printhead, and then prints a test page.

  3. Check the print quality of the test page.

    • If the print quality is good, touch Done.

    • If the print quality is not good, touch Clean Again. The printer cleans the cartridges again, and then prints another test page.

NOTE:

You might need to clean the printhead several times for optimal print quality.

If the issue persists, this could be a hardware issue as you have already replaced the ink cartridge. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
