HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e Series

I'm trying to print on an HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e from a macbook running OS sonoma 14.6.1

No matter what program I try to print from (mostly adobe products) it gives a jagged result. I reinstalled the printer, I tried hooking my laptop to the network where the printer is on instead of using it wireless, all to no avail. Is there anything I can still do?

Hi @avt77,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've tried a lot of the common fixes already. Here are a few additional steps you can try to address the jagged print issue:

Update Printer Drivers and Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e. Visit the HP Support website and check for any updates specific to your model and macOS version.
  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve printing issues.

Adjust Print Quality Settings:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click Options & Supplies.
  • Look for a Print Quality or Print Settings tab where you can adjust the print quality. Set it to High or Best and see if that improves the output.

Check Print Settings in Adobe Products:

  • When printing from Adobe products (like Adobe Acrobat or Photoshop), go to File > Print.
  • Check the print settings and make sure the Print Quality is set to High.
  • Make sure to select the correct paper size and type.

Reset Printing System:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
  • Re-add your printer and try printing again.

Test with a Different Printer Driver:

  • Sometimes using a different driver can resolve issues. You might try using the generic printer driver provided by macOS, or download an alternative driver from the HP website.

Check Printer’s Hardware:

  • Verify that the printer’s print head and cartridges are in good condition. Sometimes physical issues with the printer can cause print quality problems.

Try Printing from Another Application:

  • If possible, try printing from a different application to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is application-specific.
