My printer was not working for several months, I have plugged it in again today with the intention of printing something.
There is a print job from months ago, when I had initially discovered it wasn't working, which is now printing repeatedly. I have over 7 copies of this document, and would have had much more had I not been sitting cancelling manually on the printer. The document contained a lot of colour, which would have been fine to print once, but is rapidly draining my ink supply. I pay for a small amount of pages with HP smart/HP instant ink service, as I do not need a lot, and mainly use the printer for scanning (which you cannot do without a subscription - I found that out as this is the reason it was not working for several months). I will run out of pages per month and ink, which will result in me being charged excess for a print job that I cannot cancel.
The print job does not exist on the Print Queue in my Mac settings, nor does it show it is printing anything within the HP Smart app. I am absolutely stumped with how to cancel these jobs when they seemingly don't exist? I found a similar problem to mine on the HP forums already, although they were given answers to deal with it on a Windows, and I am looking for a macOS version of the solution. My OS is updated to Monterey 12.6, although it won't allow me to submit this into the dropdown menu. I have had nothing but trouble with this Inkjet since shortly after purchasing it, this issue might be the final nail in the coffin for my subscription to HP and the use of this horrible printer.

Hi @Faz97,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing an issue with your printer that is automatically printing pages.
A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
