The printer window reports a problem with the print head. Cleaning the print head does not work either.

Hi @RutgerWes,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP printer's window reports a problem with the printhead, and cleaning the printhead does not resolve the issue, follow these steps to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

Verify the Ink System Components:

  • Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges and printheads. Non-HP components can lead to compatibility issues.

Reseat the Printhead:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer's access door to the printhead.
  • Remove the printhead and carefully reinstall it to ensure it's properly seated. Close the access door.

Inspect Electrical Contacts:

  • Check the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the printer. Make sure there is no ink residue or dust, which could affect connectivity.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently wipe the contacts.

Perform a Printhead Alignment:

  • Some printers offer a printhead alignment option in the settings menu. This can help realign nozzles that might not be firing correctly.
  • Follow the instructions on your printer's control panel or from the user manual.

Replace the Printhead:

  • If reseating and cleaning do not work, consider replacing the printhead. Make sure to follow the instructions in your printer's user guide to properly install a new printhead.

Run Diagnostic and Self-Test Reports:

  • Most HP printers have diagnostic tools accessible from the menu. Run these tests to identify specific issues with the printhead.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP support website to check if there is a firmware update for your printer that addresses printhead issues.

By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to address the printhead issue efficiently.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
