After installing a new original ink cartridge, error message on my printer "Supply System Problem" What is this?

Thanks for reporting this—I'm really sorry you're facing this issue. The “Supply System Problem” error on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw typically means the printer is unable to properly communicate with one or more toner cartridges, even if they are original HP supplies.

 

Step-by-Step Fix for “Supply System Problem”

 

1. Power Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall and printer.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn on the printer.
  • Check if the error clears.

 

2. Reinstall All Toner Cartridges

  • Open the toner access door.
  • Remove all four cartridges (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow).
  • Inspect each cartridge for:
    • Leftover tape or packaging
    • Bent or dirty contact chips (small gold square on top left)
  • Gently wipe the contact chip with a lint-free cloth (coffee filters work well).
  • Reinsert each cartridge firmly into its correct slot.
  • Close the door and wait for initialization.

 

3. Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause supply recognition issues.

4. Run HP Diagnose & Fix Tool
