"printhead appears to be missing..." error message - can't update firmware

Officejet 6700 Premium

I have an Officejet 6700 Premium and have received the "printhead is missing, not detected, or not installed correctly" error message.  I have gone through the steps suggested by HP, but some of the fixes direct me to use the printer menu, but my menu is basically frozen on the error message.  This means that  I can't get to the printer menu to try things like update the firmware or clean the printhead .  I also tried connecting through my laptop with the HP Smart app, but that app is of little use in this case.  

Do you have any suggestions on how I can get to the printer menu or on other ways to address this error?  Thanks in advance.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Error Indicates Faulty Printhead and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
