Hi @ann287,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw is not responding on macOS Sequoia, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check Printer Connection

For USB Connection:

  • Unplug the cable from both the printer and Mac.
  • Restart your Mac and printer.
  • Reconnect the USB cable and try printing again.

For Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Ensure both the Mac and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Restart your router, printer, and Mac.
  • Try printing again.

For Ethernet Connection:

  • Check if the printer’s Ethernet cable is securely plugged into both the printer and router.

Reset the Printing System

  1. Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the printers list.
  3. Select "Reset Printing System".
  4. Restart your Mac and re-add the printer.

Update Printer Drivers & macOS

  1. Go to HP’s website and download the latest drivers for macOS Sequoia:
    • HP Software & Drivers
  2. Install the driver and restart your Mac.
  3. Check System Settings > Software Update to ensure your macOS is updated.

Try AirPrint (If Driver Issue)

  1. Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click the + (Add Printer) button.
  3. Select your printer from the list.
  4. Under "Use," select "AirPrint" instead of HP's drivers.
  5. Click Add and try printing.

Run HP Smart Diagnostic

  1. Download HP Smart from the Mac App Store.
  2. Open HP Smart and follow the on-screen instructions to troubleshoot.

Check Printer Status

  • If the printer is in Sleep Mode, press the power button to wake it up.
  • Print a self-test report by pressing the printer's Home button > Setup > Reports > Print Configuration Report.
  • If the printer prints the report but not from Mac, it’s a software issue.

Factory Reset (If Nothing Else Works)

  1. On the printer, go to Setup > Service > Restore Defaults.
  2. Select "Restore Factory Defaults" and confirm.
  3. Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi and reinstall the drivers.

Try these steps and let me know what worked or if you need more help! 😊
