I get the message - "Scanning is Currently Unavailable"

I rebooted several times when it first stopped working and I got it to work once.  However, since then, no amount of rebooting will get it to work.

@Corymasters, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding a scanner issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I can imagine how frustrating it must feel to be ready to scan and then be met with that cold “Scanning is Currently Unavailable” message — almost like the scanner just went silent mid-conversation. Let’s try a few steps to wake it back up:

Power reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall, and let it rest for about a minute. Then plug it back in and power it on — this often clears out any stuck processes.

Check connection: If you’re scanning over Wi-Fi, make sure the printer and PC are on the same network. If possible, try a USB cable to see if it springs back to life.

Update/reinstall drivers: Download the latest HP Easy Start or Full Feature Software and Drivers for the 4520 from HP’s site. A fresh install can often smooth out communication glitches.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
