Step-by-Step: Fix Printhead Problem on HP 8015e

1. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Sometimes, this clears temporary printhead communication errors.


2. Remove and Reinsert Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Carefully remove all cartridges.
  • Gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and inside the printhead using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Let everything dry for a few minutes.
  • Reinsert the cartridges and close the door.


3. Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause printhead detection issues.

  • Open the HP Smart app on your Mac.
  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Firmware.
  • If an update is available, install it and restart the printer.

4. Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

If the issue persists:
