On hp officejet 6100e I get message unable to print, rendering failed, job unable to print. Message suggested downloading new driver which I did but I still get the same message and it won't print. It was printing ok before this happened and then I started getting the unable to print message.

@krk41, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you're encountering the "Unable to Print, Rendering Failed" error message on your HP Officejet 6100e, even after downloading the new driver, you can take the following steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check for Software Updates:

  • Ensure that you have installed the latest printer software and updates. Sometimes, updates from HP can resolve known issues.

Reinstall the Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the current printer software and driver completely from your computer.
  • Re-download and install the latest driver from the HP support website.
  • Make sure to install the driver specific to your printer model and operating system.

Verify Printer Connectivity:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable or your network if using a wireless connection.
  • Restart both your printer and computer after ensuring a proper connection.

Check Printer Queue:

  • Open the printer queue on your computer and ensure there are no stuck jobs. Clear any pending print jobs to prevent conflicts.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a basic reset of the printer by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source, waiting for 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in and turning it on.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that your printer settings are correctly configured. Sometimes incorrect settings can cause rendering issues.

Test with Simple Print Jobs:

  • Try printing simple documents to see if the issue persists. It helps to isolate complex print jobs that might be causing rendering problems.

Check for Firmware Update:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model on the HP website, as updates can resolve functionality issues.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
