Printer throwing code 620192F8 what does that mean?

The error code 620192F8 you're seeing on your HP printer is not a standard documented error code across most HP printer families (Smart Tank, DeskJet, ENVY, LaserJet, etc.). This type of code typically indicates a firmware-level or internal system error, possibly related to: 

  • A failed firmware update
  • Corrupted internal memory
  • A hardware fault in the printhead, carriage, or scanner subsystem

Here's what you can do to resolve it:

Power Reset the Printer

  1. With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
  2. Unplug the cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  5. Reconnect the cord to the printer and turn it on.

This clears most temporary internal errors.

Update Firmware

If the printer starts up normally:

  • Visit Official HP® Support
  • Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware update
  • Install it using HP Smart or HP Easy Start

Use HP Diagnose & Fix Tool

HP offers a built-in tool in the HP Smart app:

Check for Hardware Faults

If the error persists:

  • Ensure the printhead and cartridges are properly seated
  • Check for any paper jams or obstructions in the carriage path
  • If you recently refilled ink or replaced parts, verify they are genuine HP components
