Hi @bailey1825,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer cartridges are being blocked or are showing errors, here are some possible reasons and solutions:

1. Firmware Updates

  • HP printers sometimes receive firmware updates that can block third-party or remanufactured cartridges. If you’ve updated your printer’s firmware recently, it might have affected compatibility.

2. Cartridge Recognition

  • Check Compatibility: Ensure the cartridges are compatible with your specific printer model.
  • Clean Contacts: Remove the cartridges and clean the gold contacts on both the cartridges and the printer using a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly dampened with water.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it, and wait for about a minute before plugging it back in and turning it on.

4. Reinstall Cartridges

  • Sometimes, simply removing and reinstalling the cartridges can help. Make sure they click securely into place.

5. Check for Damage

  • Inspect the cartridges for any visible damage or leaks. If they are expired or damaged, they may not work correctly.

6. Use HP Support Tools

  • Use HP's diagnostic tools available on their website. These can help identify issues with the cartridges or printer settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
