MFP X585 FLow

Hi. I have a MFP x585 Flow which is presenting a 61.00.00 error when trying to boot.

I have updated firmware, removed tray 3 and all connections.

The formatter board has a green light for the smily face, and the heart is blinking green.

I have downloaded the error logs, and can see the below:

HP.Mfp.HardwareServices.Print.Pentane.BratwurstException: Engine Assert Detected: C6FD0002

HP.Mfp.HardwareServices.Print.Pentane.BratwurstException: Engine Assert Detected: C8190014

Thoughts?

Hi,

Thanks for sharing the details and logs. The 61.00.00 error on the HP MFP X585 Flow is generally associated with an engine communication failure between the formatter and the engine control board. Since you’ve already tried updating the firmware, disconnecting accessories (like Tray 3), and checked the LEDs on the formatter, the issue appears to be hardware-related rather than firmware.

The error codes in the logs (C6FD0002 and C8190014) point to engine asserts, which usually indicate a failure in the DC controller/engine board or the communication path between it and the formatter.

Next steps to consider:

  1. Power cycle with all optional accessories removed (trays, fax cards, extra memory).

  2. Re seat or replace the formatted-to-engine cable (flat cable connection).

  3. If the error persists, the likely resolution is replacing the engine control board/DC controller assembly.

  4. If available, testing with another known-good formatted could also rule out a formatted issue.

Given what you’ve already done, the most probable root cause is the engine control board.

Let me know if you’d like the part number or service manual reference for the replacement.

Best regards,
