Samsung CLP-365W Color Laser Printer

As reported in other topics, there's an issue with the firmware update file (CLP365W_V3.00.02.19.zip) that can be downloaded from HP's website. The instructions call for an executable "CLP365w_V3.00.02.16.exe" which is not provided in the download. Third party sources (as suggested in other topics) serving this file have dried up.

When following the instructions in the zip file, the printer is stuck in an unusable state where all the lights flash but no printing is possible.

I actually opened the question to have a place to document the fix...

It turns out that the manual that is included in the firmware download is not correct. The actual firmware file is included (as a .hd file) but no program to flash it to the printer.

I found the solution in instructions of an older version of the firmware.

  1. I'm assuming that the current state is where the lights are flashing, after you have run "CLP365W_Upgrade_Patch.exe", which sets the version to V3.00.01.99. This seems to be a special version allowing you to upgrade to V3.00.02.xx.
  2. Open your printer's web page (which still works in this mode!) by entering the printer's IP address in a web browser.
  3. Click 'login' in the upper right of the SyncThru Web Service and login as administrator. Default settings are ID: admin, PW: sec00000.
  4. Go to "maintenance" > "Upgrade wizard" > "Browse" and select the .hd firmware file, click next.
  5. Follow further instructions.

I hope this information saves some printers from the junk yard for at least a few more years.

Hi @Ric_ob,

It would be great if you could get the instructions in the firmware download adapted, that would be the real solution to the problem..

What would the IP address be to connect to? In my instance I only ever used the printer using the USB connection. So I have to hope that default networking settings will work.

Thanks for this, I have been searching for at least downgrading or something but no clue or answers. I will be trying to fix it but the suppot for samsung it's a mess, even the file needs to be removed ASAP. AGAIN THANKS FOR SHARING!
