Hi, the screen is frozen on the Samsung logo on our CLX-8640. It wont communicate via Ethernet, I've tried pressing *0# at power on, screen says ready to download firmware, but wont go any further via either USB drive. The printer has been in storage since new, it was working for a few weeks, then power was pulled without shutting down correctly. it would be really nice to get to finally use it...

If you are stuck at that screen with no access to any menus then likely the firmware is corrupted. I checked the service manual for this product and the only methods of updating/replacing firmware require you to be able to get into the system. If you can get into service mode there are harddrive diagnostics and recovery utilities. I cannot post those instructions on an open forum as that violates my companies NDA agreement with HP. If you can find a service manual online the instructions are contained there.

If you find the information provided useful or solves your problems, help other users find the solution easier by giving kudos and marking my post as an accepted solution.
