How long should toner last?

Printer purchased on 20 Dec 2018 and only for home use -

1 March 2019 - Yellow cartridge already empty, Black showing 22%, Blue andd Cyan still at 56%. With only a small amount of home printing it is hard to believe that toner already used up especially seeing the yellow used up first as majority of printing is only black.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi,

How many pages were printed with the printer? this is not a matter of time but of usage.

Be aware that the startup cartridges included with the printer are not full and intended for ~500 pages (color) and ~700 pages (black):

From the System Setup menu, select Reports and print a Usage Counter report.

Thank you for the response - I have used ONLY 356 pages since the purchase of the printer. Mainly black printer. It is a pretty poor effort to "short change" the purchaser by apparently supplying cartridges perhaps with lower levels of toner than those purchased subsequently.

I will certainly monitor the pages printed and compare how long the cartridges last when I replace them! I certainly hope that it will be a lot longer.

As a comparison, my previous laser printer ( had for 5 years a Fuji Xerox which unfortunately died and is unfortunately no longer available) used to last 6 months before needing replacing the black, longer for the colours with similar usage to this new Samsung! Progress?

As a comparison, the cartridges for your last printer used to last 6 months with similar usage.

To compare better, what printer model and cartridges number have you previously used?

Thanks but this is just going around in circles - the test will come when I install new Samsung cartridges - presumably they will be full - I hope!! Then I will be in a better position to compare.
